LMI systems and upgrades
Accurate load data, every lift, every time
Protect your people, plant and project with certified LMI systems
Load Moment Indicator (LMI) systems are essential for ensuring safe crane operations.
Falcon Cranes supplies, installs, and upgrades LMI systems to help clients monitor loads, prevent over-lifting, and stay compliant with Australian safety standards.
Whether you’re working with an older unit that needs modernisation or looking to integrate digital LMI into a new crane, our in-house team will configure a solution that suits your equipment, your operators and your site conditions.
With Falcon Cranes LMI systems, you’re not guessing — you’re lifting with certainty.
Why LMI systems are non-negotiable
LMI systems continuously monitor the load, radius, angle and capacity of your crane during operation, alerting the operator before safe working limits are exceeded. These systems are more than just a regulatory requirement—they’re a frontline safety tool.
Upgrading or installing the right LMI setup can help you:
- Prevent overloading and crane instability
- Ensure compliance with Australian Standards
- Increase operator confidence and control
- Log lift data for reporting and diagnostics
- Integrate with zoning, anti-collision and remote systems
Every LMI system we install is tested, certified, and fully supported by our in-house technical team.

We’ll help you assess, update or install the right LMI system to keep your project compliant and your operations safe.
We provide:
- LMI system upgrades for older cranes
- New system installs on Falcon-supplied or external plant
- Integration with remote control, zoning, and monitoring tech
- Calibration, testing and compliance documentation
- Operator training and tech support
A safety essential, delivered with full support
Our LMI installations are part of a wider site support service that can include:
- Tower crane or self erecting crane hire
- Remote monitoring and anti-collision systems
- Equipment servicing, repairs and spare parts
- Onsite technical support and breakdown response
Frequently asked questions
What is an LMI system and how does it work?
An LMI (Load Moment Indicator) system measures the load weight, crane angle and radius, and calculates whether the lift is within the crane’s safe working limits. If thresholds are exceeded, the system alerts the operator—or in some systems, stops the lift automatically.
When do I need to upgrade or install an LMI system?
You may need to upgrade or install a system if:
- You’re operating a crane without a compliant LMI
- Your current system is outdated or malfunctioning
- You’re adding new lifting tech like remotes or zoning
- You need to meet WHS compliance for a specific project
- If you’re unsure, we can inspect your setup and make a recommendation.
Are your LMI systems compliant with Australian standards?
Yes. All LMI systems we install or upgrade meet relevant Australian safety and compliance regulations, and come with full certification and calibration documentation.
Can you upgrade LMIs on non-Falcon cranes?
Yes. We work with a wide range of crane models and can retrofit or replace existing LMI systems on external or client-owned equipment. Our team will assess compatibility and configure the system to suit your unit.
Do you provide operator training?
Absolutely. Every LMI install includes hands-on training and system familiarisation with your operators or site team to ensure correct use, proper response to alerts, and a clear understanding of the system’s functions.
